Why is Mental Health First Aid important? Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the mental health equivalent of physical first aid. We offer MHFA England courses, which are internationally recognised and taught in 25 countries around the world. MHFA England is the only provider of licensed Mental Health First Aid Instructor Training in England. It’s important because:
• At any one time one worker in six will be experiencing depression, anxiety or issues relating to stress (Centre for Mental Health, 2010).
• Stress, anxiety and depression are the biggest cause of sickness absence in our society. Work-related stress alone accounted for 45% of all working days lost to ill health in 2015/16 (Health and Safety Executive, 2017).
• 76% of line managers believe they are responsible for employee wellbeing but only 22% have received training (BITC Mental Health at Work Report 2016).
Who is it for? We can train you to become a Mental Health First Aider with our Adult MHFA Two Day course, or give you an introduction to mental health with our Adult MHFA Half Day. We also offer the Adult MHFA One Day awareness and skills course which qualifies you as an Adult MHFA Champion.
Everything indicates that Mental Health First Aid will become a legal requirement for every business. Don’t wait. Get ahead today.
How does it work? All our MHFA training provides you with the skills and confidence to recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health issues and effectively guide a person towards the right support. Our open training courses are run from our new training centre in Taunton, or we can come to you.*
